Asian Waterfowl Census- 2020 in Annapurna Conservation Area.

The Asian Waterfowl Census was done on the date with together with Asian Waterfowl Census of South Asia which was started in Nepal from January 4-19, 2020. In Annapurna conservation area (ACA), three lakes were selected randomly as Site 1. Titi Lake, Site 2. Sekong Lake and Site 3. Bhutchhrochho Lake of lower Mustang. Total of 183 individuals of seven species of two order Anseriformes (5) with Anatidae family and Guriformes (2) with the Rallidae family were seen. The Mallard= 57 individuals, Common Teal = 19 individual, Eurasian Wigeon=66 individual, Gadwall=11 individuals, and Tufted Duck=17 individual of Anseriformes order and Common Coot=66 individual, and Common Moorhen=4 individuals of Guriformes order was a count from the site 1 (Titi lake). Among the three lakes, two lakes Site 2 and Site 3 (Sekong and Bhutchrochho) were found to nill the number of waterfowl species. The three local youth were trained about the methods of counting waterfowl species and also trained how to identify the bird's species from Titi Lake. In ACA, Titi Lake was famous for the breeding site for Mallard and Common Moorhen species. One day on waterfowl awareness camp conservation camp was conducted to raise awareness on waterbirds species of that area in Titi Lake of Site 1 where 23 participants including 17 males and 6 females have participated. The importance of water birds and wetlands was given to them.
