Augmented Reality & Mixed Reality using UNITY

One of the i4.0 technologies in Advanced Manufacturing industry is Augmented Reality. AR technology had been gaining traction in gaming industry and in recent years, it had been become one of the digital transformation tool in the advanced manufacturing industry. AR application range from data visualization, service and maintenance as well as training and learning tool. A rapidly growing industry is in E commerce and industrial metaverse where AR had proven to gain competitive advantage to improve productivity and increase business opportunities.

In the video, both students are from TP Diploma in Mechatronics. They learned and developed some AR (Augmented Reality) and MR (Mixed reality) using Unity software and Hololens. It is a free software from Unity website. The hand tracking SDK is from Manomotion.com. Some of the virtual walk through CAD models are from Unity Library.

AR and MR would become the new tool for collaboration between different user from different part of the world. Metaverse, a virtual world where people would meet and interact would be possible in future with these new technology.
