Trudeau on Islamophobia in Canada, residential schools probe, and a possible fall election | FULL

In an exclusive interview with Global News, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discussed some of Canada’s pressing issues including reopening amid COVID-19, Islamophobia in Canada, and the discovery of unmarked graves at former residential school sites.

Trudeau has said that he would support a criminal investigation into the recent recovery of hundreds of unmarked burial sites at residential schools across Canada amid growing pressure on the government from the Indigenous communities.

“I will support anything that families need to move forward, for Canadians to understand the truth and to actually move forward on reconciliation,” said Trudeau in a one-on-one interview with Global News’ Farah Nasser in Brampton, Ont.

Trudeau also touched on the sexual misconduct allegations in the military and offered his thoughts about a potential fall election.
