In this video, we shall be taking you all the way to the southern part of Africa and we shall be shining the light on the 10 best places to visit in Eswatini. Eswatini officially known as the kingdom of Eswatini renamed in 2018 from its former name Swaziland is a landlocked country and one of the smallest in Africa with its capital and largest city being Mbabane. This country is with not more than 200km north to south and 130km east to west and has a population of 1.15million spread across 17.200km2 composed primarily of ethnic Swazis who speak Swazi along with English as official languages. It’s climate and topography are diverse ranging from a cool and mountainous highvield to a hot and dry lowveld.

Eswatini is Africa's last absolute monarchy which was established in the mid 18 century under the leadership of Ngwane the third whose name came from Mswati the second. This small but scenically beautiful country of emerald peaks, rivers, ravines, rolling valleys, and waterfalls is a hiker's eden. Nature reserves are the top attraction here, and though only a few hosts the Big Five animals (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), all of them offer an intimate game-viewing experience, lush mountain scenery, and a rich diversity of species. Eswatini also proudly preserves it’s fascinating culture, customs, and festivals. Travellers are welcome to watch some of the festivities of Incwala, an impressive three-week kingship ritual in December and January, and, Umhlanga, the lively Reed Dance ceremony, which takes place during the last week of August or first week of September. 10. HLANE ROYAL NATIONAL PARK
Hlane Royal National Park is a protected flat lowland area with grassland covered with ancient hardwood trees and shallow pans traversed by the Umbuluzana River. It is roughly 67 km northeast of Manzini along the MR3 road. However, it is Eswatini's largest protected area and park whose modern day conservation success story that has seen this are survive competing land-use claims, sugar farming, mining and cattle ranching.The park and its adjacent dispersal areas cover 30,000 hectares of Swazi bushveld. Prior to the park being public, it was a private royal hunting ground. Hlane, meaning 'wilderness', was named by King Sobhuza II. It is now held in trust for the Nation by His Majesty King Mswati III, and is managed by Big Game Parks, a privately owned body. Moreover,Hlane is home to the lion, elephant, giraffe, and white rhinoceros. It has an abundant and diverse birdlife, including the highest density of nesting white-backed vultures in Africa.
9. MBULUZI GAME RESERVE .
Mbuluzi Game Reserve is a privately owned reserve in Eswatini, within the Lubombo Conservancy. There are 3 lodges privately situated on the Mlawula River, and a campsite, situated above some rapids in the Mbuluzi River.The privately owned Mbuluzi Game Reserve in Eswatini is well run contrary to the neighbouring Mlawula Nature Reserve, poaching is well under control here and wildlife numbers are increasing. Aside from crocodiles, the reserve doesn’t have any dangerous animals and activities are self-guided. Other than driving around, walking and mountain biking are encouraged. A portion of the proceeds generated by the reserve go to a community development fund.
8. MLIWANE WIDLIFE SANTUARY
The Mliwane wildlife sanctuary is the oldest and most protected area, managed and owned by a non- profit trust. The sanctuary serves as a headquarters for the Big Game Parks including Mlilwane's sister reserves Hlane Royal National Park and Mkhaya Game Reserve. The Sanctuary covers 4,560 hectares in the Ezulwini Valley or "Valley of Heaven". Formerly a farming and tin mining area, the area has been rehabilitated and is now Eswatini'smost frequently visited reserve and bundant wildlife grace the plains. The southern section is predominately open grassland plains with middleveld vegetation, stretching up onto Nyonyane Mountain.Catch glimpses of giraffes, zebras, and more on self-guided tours, horseback, or in open Land Rovers.
