Taxpayers have forked out over £127million in salary and expenses for Members of Parliament for the 2019-2020 year it has been revealed.
Four SNP members including Ian Blackford were in the top 10 most expensive MP’s with one SNP member second only to Speaker Lindsay Doyle, who’s expenses as speaker are expected to be higher with extra duties and responsibilities for his role.
It comes as the Brexit trade deal comes into effect after months of wrangling over state aid, fisheries and the so called level playing field.
The deal was given a green light by both United Kingdom and European Union Parliaments after Prime Minister Boris Johnson and EU chiefs such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agreed to the terms of the deal in order to avoid a no deal Brexit.
