"I had a very complicated technical and legal subject, and he said, 'why don't you write a dissertation on making a new country, this is exactly what you will be doing for the next year or so.' STORYLINE:

Sunday's election in Georgia, six weeks to the day after the "rose revolution" overthrew President Eduard Shevardnadze, will be watched closely as a harbinger of whether the former Soviet republic can establish stability after the upheaval.
Saakashvili, only 36, a US-educated lawyer, is expected to continue Shevardnadze's push to join European structures, including NATO.
