But the difference this time is that Microsoft originally announced that Windows 10 would be the last version of Windows and that they would simply iterate Windows 10. As a result, the announcement of Windows 11 is in stark contrast to their original vision for their operating system franchise. So, why did Microsoft change its mind? Well, Microsoft is in a radically better financial situation compared to the early 2010s, so they're able to take a gamble with Windows 11. Moreover, Windows 8 and 10 weren't the best for the reputation of Microsoft, so Microsoft is looking to rebrand themselves with Windows 11.
