Zhong Shanshan became the richest person in Asia in January of 2021 with a peak net worth of a whopping $95 billion. Most of his wealth is from his water bottle company called Nongfu Spring which is extremely popular within China. However, just one year ago, Shanshan only had a net worth of $2 billion meaning that Shanshan made the vast majority of his wealth over the past year. Nongfu Spring did IPO within the last 12 months giving the stock some added hype, but Nongfu Spring is just a water bottle company at the end of the day, not Tesla or Apple. This brings up the question as to how Zhong Shanshan made his money. Though Nongfu Spring no doubt has a large amount of intrinsic value, it does seem like there is more affecting the company's stock price behind the scenes.
