In the case of Ubiquiti, any new hotspot you buy, I highly recommend that you consider the Unifi 6 Lite (Pro or LR, which I haven't tested or cracked open just yet). In my home network, I have already used the regular Unifi Lite and LR model, so in this article we will compare the old models with the new ones. My goal in testing was not to get the best speed, but to compare older models with Unifi 6 LR and each other in a home network environment.

Even though the new Unifi 6 hotspot doesn't support Wi-Fi 6 on the 2.4GHz band, we're still seeing a noticeable speed boost over the older model. For the Unifi 6 LR, we saw an almost 100% increase in speed compared to the older long-range model. To compare the final test of the new Unifi Wifi 6 hotspot, I took measurements before and after replacing the hotspot where I mostly use wireless.

It broadcasts the power settings, the distance between the access point and the client, the congestion of the wireless network (if you live in an urban environment, the 2.4 GHz channel can be crowded so be sure to stick with 20MHz width channels 1, 6, and 11), the wireless adapter of the client device, and more.
