UNC Denies Tenure for ‘1619 Project’ Creator Nikole Hannah-Jones

Marc Lamont Hill chats with Jelani Cobb, staff writer at The New Yorker and professor at Columbia Journalism School, about UNC denying Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones a tenured professorship at their journalism school, despite having support from faculty.

Conservatives expressed outrage after the school announced that they were bringing Hannah-Jones on.

"This is a political reaction that she created the "1619 Project," Cobb says. "The idea that racism is not central to the American society, the American establishment, is absurd."
