Fretboard Mind Games
Here's the next episode of Brewster's Millions Of Rants with Fretboard Mind Games. This lesson features a series of exercises and workouts that will not only boost your technique and awareness of the fretboard, but they'll also engage your mind and force you to think while you're practicing and performing this material.
There are literally thousands if not millions of different things you can focus on and target when you're practicing the guitar, but I've found that if you can exercise your mind while also exercising your hands - those are the best things you can possibly practice. Moving your fingers is one thing, but moving your mind (musically speaking) is something else entirely.
The ideas shared in this lesson range from a simple (but effective) fretboard awareness exercise I call the "Musical Spelling Test," a challenging finger independence pedal-point exercise that's excellent for strengthening your pinky finger, an expansive diminished seventh chord exercise, and much more!
If you're searching for some new things to practice that will not only unlock your fretboard and improve your technique, but also sharpen your musical mindset and awareness of your instrument - this lesson is for you!
