3 Things You Should Know About the GOP's Bad Student Loan Bill

Yesterday Republicans on the Education Committee passed a harmful bill that will make college even less affordable for students and will take away consumer protections that protect students from the scams of predatory for-profit schools. Here are 3 things you should know about this bill:

1. It’s going to raise student loan payments for working and middle-class borrowers.
2. It’s going to make it harder for students to access an affordable college education.
3. It contains no protections for marginalized students, like parenting students or students with disabilities.

Thankfully this bill has not come to the House floor for a full vote yet. Your voices matter, and I’m asking everyone who cares about protecting the promise of higher education to speak out and contact their representatives.
