Seiko Prospex 55th Anniversary Collection Watch Review | aBlogtoWatch

Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch reviews the Seiko Prospex 55th Anniversary Collection. These three limited edition references (limited to 1100 pieces each) are modernizations of pivotal Seiko Prospex dive watches from the 1960s and ‘70s and have all been updated with in-house movements from the 8L family.

The 39.9mm SLA037 commemorates the Japanese brand’s very first dive watch, the 62MAS, and is made from Seiko’s new grade of corrosion-resistant steel dubbed “Ever-Brilliant Steel.” Inside is the 8L55 Hi-Beat movement which operates at 5Hz. Pricing is $6,300 USD.

The 44.8mm SLA039 is based on the 1968 Hi-Beat Diver and is also made of Ever-Brilliant Steel and contains the 8L55 Hi-Beat movement. Pricing is $6,800 USD.

Finally, the 52.4mm SLA041 is based on the 1975 Professional Diver, or more affectionately known as the Tuna. The case is ceramic with an Ever-Brilliant Steel bezel, and inside is Seiko’s 8L35 automatic movement which operates at 4Hz with 50 hours of power reserve. Pricing is $4,500 USD.
