Poetic Ubiety: Meishan Land Art Festival Chengdu China | 詩意的所在:中國眉山鄉野藝術節 | 2018 | 杨小彦 胡斌 龙邃洋策划

Land art, also known as earth art, is an art movement originated in the United States from late 1960s to early 1970s, which emphasis on the inseparable connection between the environmental landscape and the artwork itself, and it is also an art form created in nature. The creation of earth art aims at the discussion of landscapes. The works often appear in areas open to the public and away from urban civilization. Land art works often retain the objective attributes of materials being altered and eroded by natural forces.

Meishan Land Art Festival held on September 29, 2018 in the OCT Franco-China Agricultural Science and Technology Park in the Overseas Chinese Town at Pengshan District, nearby Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, China. This is the first large-scale international land art festival held in Chengdu. The Organizer is hoping that the art and the natural environment will interact with each other through the participating artist's critical thinking, and through the form of earth art, people can pay more attention to and reflect on environmental and ecological issues.

The chief curator of the First Tianfu Land Art Festival, Yang Xiaoyan, the professor at Sun Yat-Sen University, mentions that the theme of the art festival “Poetic Ubiety” was inspired by the title of the well-known German philosopher Heidegger’s book “Poetically Man Dwells”. Heidegger pointed out that the ideal home of human being is where one is able of watching the flee of time in peace and harmony, this is poetry. Rests Tao Yuanming’s ideality: “I lean upon the southern window with an immense satisfaction, and note that the little place is cozy enough to walk around. The garden grows more familiar and interesting with the daily walks. What if no one ever knocks at the always closed door! There the clouds idle away from their mountain recesses without any intent or purpose, and birds, when tired of their wandering flights, will think of home”. The British philosopher Hume also stressed the importance of poetry to people, he said: "the best way to improve one's temperament is to study the beauty of poetry, the beauty of painting, and the beauty of music; it creates a pleasant sense of melancholy, which is best emotion for being kind with others, and friendly with others."

The carrier of poetry is art, and it is a public, intervening landscape, and earth art. We embed a series of artistic ideas throughout the park, allowing the artists to extend their understanding of art based on their understanding of nature and earth at this poetic place.

The exhibition will follow the principles of landscape urbanism, and will be based on the atmosphere of the park to construct the abstraction and harmony of life through the works of the artist. The participating artists are famous international and domestic contemporary artists, cross-border architects and designers from France (four), Canada (two), and China (seven). They are (in alphabetical order): Julien de Casabianca (French), Philip Colin (French), Bo Fan/Group Mixture, Zhongwang Fu, Xiong Gu (Canada), Xingtao Jiao, Jingshan Lin (Canada), Jianhua Liu, Pierre Picard (France), Fabien Villon (French), Yiming Wang, Jingsong Shi, Xi Zeng.

The curator of this art festival is the well-known art critic and professor at Sun Yat-sen University-Xiaoyan Yang; professor at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Lyon, France- Ms. Crystal Monturi; well-known art critic and the deputy director of the Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts-Bin Hu. And the assistant curator is the Canadian independent curator Steven Dragon.

大地藝術(Land art, Earthworks 或Earth art)也叫地景藝術,是一種始發於美國二十世紀60年代末和二十世紀70年代初的一種藝術運動,其表現為大地景觀和藝術作品本身不可分割的聯繫,同時這也是一種在自然界創作的藝術形式。大地藝術的創作旨在對地景的討論,其作品經常出現在對公眾開放,遠離都市文明的地區,大地藝術作品時常保留了材料被自然力改變、侵蝕的客觀屬性。

眉山鄉野​​藝術節於2018年9月29日在中國四川省成都市近郊的眉山華僑城中法農業科技園舉行,這是在成都地區舉辦的首個大型國際性大地藝術節,主辦方希望通過參與藝術家批判性思考的方式讓藝術與自然環境互為作用,並通過大地藝術的形式讓民眾更深入地關注和反思環境生態議題。

大地藝術節的主策展人,中山大學教授楊小彥在解釋藝術節主題“詩意的所在”時說道,藝術節主題靈感源於德國著名哲學家海德格爾的著作題目《人,詩意地棲居》 。海德格爾指出,人的理想家園就是在寧靜和諧中守望著歲月的流逝,這就是詩意,所以,“對於詩人來說,至高無上和神聖本來屬於同一種東西,即澄明。”“澄明”本身就是詩的存在,是通向遠方,在那裡,葡萄閃閃發光,在那裡,有陶淵明的理想:“倚南窗以寄傲,審容膝之易安;園日涉以成趣,門雖設而常關;云無心以出岫,鳥倦飛而知還。”英國哲學家休謨也強調詩意對於人的重要性,他說:“最能改善人的氣質的莫過於各種詩歌美、繪畫美、音樂美的研究,她使人產生一種怡人的憂鬱感,這種情感最能與他人為善,與他人為友。”

對於坐落在四川眉山的“中法農業科技園”來說,這裡所呈現的設計者對於環境風貌的理想,正是對詩意的闡釋,其所面對的,正是詩意的所在。

大地藝術節將依循城市山水主義的原則,根據園區的氛圍呈現,通過藝術家的作品去構築生活的寫意與和諧。參展藝術家分別來自法國(四位)、加拿大(兩位)、中國(七位),在國際及國內知名的當代藝術大咖、跨界建築師和設計師,他們分別是(以姓氏首字母排序)朱利安·卡薩比安卡(法)、菲利普· 科林(法)、範勃/混合小組、傅中望、顧雄(加)、焦興濤、林景山(加)、劉建華、石頭先生(法) 、法比安·維隆(法)、王義明、史金淞、曾曦。

    擔任本屆藝術節的策展人為著名藝術批評家、中山大學教授楊小彥先生,法國里昂國立美術學院教授克里斯特爾·蒙圖里女士, 著名批評家、廣州美術學院美術館副館長胡斌教授,加拿大獨立策展人龍邃洋先生。
