LAKE DISTRICT - DAY 2: Exploring Ambleside and the lakes

The sun was still shining and we decided to explore the lakes after the big hike the day before. We had a look at the church, St. Mary's, looked around in shops and cute little cafes, before we made a stop at Shakes which has great smoothies, definitely worth a visit. From there we walked up to the waterfall, Stock Ghyll Force, only a 20-15 min walk from town before we headed down to the lake.

We walked from town to Waterhead Pier, around 20 min, where we had rented a boat through Windermere Lake Cruises. We got a boat for two hours, £80 for 4 people, that we could drive around our selves. The boats does not go very fast but a great way to explore the lakes.

In the evening we got back into town and ate dinner at Tap Yard, a pretty new place that has great outdoor seating, live music and tasty food. Staff there is also very friendly and the vibe was great.
