Russian President Boris Yeltsin on Thursday (9/5) combined campaigning with patriotism on a timely visit to Volgograd, marking the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany at the site of a key World War II battle. Yeltsin used the holiday as a chance to try to generate more support in his tough race for re-election against Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov.
