The Bear Was Caught and Left to Die in the Trap... Until a Mountain Man Cut Him Free

The Bear Was Caught and Left to Die in the Trap... Until a Mountain Man Cut Him Free

Sometimes the hardest battles we fight aren't against enemies, but against the parts of ourselves we're trying to forget. Sometimes redemption comes from the most unexpected places, when we least deserve it but need it most.

Up in Montana's mountains lived an old mountain man named Lije Calder. After the war, he went high into the wilderness to escape his past. Most folks figured he'd die alone up there. One cold evening, while tracking elk, Lije found a massive grizzly bear caught in a steel trap. The bear was bleeding and dying, but its eyes held no anger. Just pain and a quiet acceptance that touched something deep in the old man's heart.

Lije could have walked away. Should have walked away. But something about that bear's suffering reminded him of his own wounds. What would you do if saving another creature meant facing everything you'd been running from?
