“A Lot Convert To Islam In Prisons” | Expert Calls For New Law On Terrorism Convicts

A top terror expert is calling for a new law that would require authorities to inform people if a convicted terrorist is living on their street.

Similar to Sarah's Law, introduced after Sarah Payne's 2000 murder by Roy Whiting, this proposed law would let individuals formally ask the police if someone with access to their family has a terrorist conviction.

Chris Phillips, former head of UK counter-terrorism, stated, "We need legislation to ensure people have the right to know if a terrorist is living nearby or—worse—is forming a relationship with a member of your family."

Phillips' proposal comes amid warnings of a heightened terror threat in Europe and the likelihood of an IS-inspired attack in the UK. He added, "The release of terrorists into the community is a high-risk affair. Some may never offend again, but many remain radicalised."
