Synthesis of TiO2/ZnO nanoparticles
In this video I describe how to synthesize the TiO2/ZnO nanoparticles by sol gel method.
At first, 4mL Titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) is added to 20mL Ethanol and is stirred, then the solution of3 mL of HNO3 in 150 mL of deionized water was injected drop-wise into the mixture of TTIP and
ethanol for hydrolysis reaction. The mixture was stirred.
Then 3 gr Zinc Acetate Dihydrate was added to the solution of 10 mL Nitric Acid and 20 mL EtOH. Next, this solution was added drop-wise to the hydrolyzed TTIP solution. It was then heated at 100 °C until the solvent was evaporated and after annealing at 600 °Cfor 4 h ‘TiO2/ZnO nanoparticles were obtained. In this
method, the second precursor (Zinc Acetate Dihydrate) was used to increase the Zn-O functional groups on the surface of the TiO2 nanoparticles.
Various analysis techniques are used to characteristic the synthesized nanoparticles. Zeta potential analysis was used to determine the stability of nanoparticles in solutuin. The XRD analysis was used to determine the composition of nanoparticles, FTIR analysis was used to determine the structure and the respective bonds in the synthesized nanoparticles and SEM image was used to study the morphology of the synthesized nanoparticles
