‘No point’ to COVID inquiry if states aren’t investigated

Sky News host Caleb Bond says there is “literally no point” to the government’s COVID inquiry since states won’t be compelled to make submissions.

His comments come after Premiers wielded significant power during the pandemic years compared to the Commonwealth.

“What is the point of having an inquiry if you don’t look at the one group of people who actually had control during COVID,” Mr Bond said.

“I mean the powers that the Commonwealth had were around people coming in and out of the country … then the next thing they could control was the vaccine rollout, and that was about it.

“The rest of it came down to the states.”
