In this video, Stu Harrison is going to talk through a sure-fire method of connecting your wireless device to your Roland Bluetooth-equipped digital piano. Connect your smartphone or tablet (iOS & Android) to your piano via Bluetooth MIDI so you can access a world of music apps such as Piano Technician, Piano Partner 2, Garage Band, and many more.

iOS Specific Tips:

If the device says “connected” in your normal Bluetooth connections menu, it’s NOT going to work with Roland’s Piano Partner 2 or their Piano Designer app.

If the device is reading as “Connected”, click on the device and click “FORGET THIS DEVICE” before attempting to connect to it within the Roland Apps

Once in the Roland Apps, click the settings icon and click the “BLUETOOTH MIDI DEVICE” button to bring up a separate list of devices in range. This is where you should connect with the instrument.

Your wireless device must ALSO BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET while doing this

Android Tips:

Piano Partner 2 is currently functional, but glitchy when it comes to using rhythms or wireless recording. Lots of latency issues that Roland has not yet resolved as of November 2019.
