Welcome back, piano enthusiasts! In this exciting continuation of our series, we unveil the results of our blind test featuring a variety of upright pianos. Did my guesses align with the actual pianos, or did I get stumped? Join me, Stu Harrison, as I take you through the sound and characteristics of each instrument, sharing insights that might just surprise you!
🔍 What to Expect in This Video:
- The reveal of my guesses for five distinct uprights: Piano A, B, C, D, and E.
- In-depth analysis of each piano's sound quality, tone, and playability.
- Insights into what influenced my guesses, including characteristics of the brands and models.
- A friendly challenge for you to see how your own guesses compare to mine!
🎶 Piano Breakdown:
- Piano A: Initially thought to be a Kawai K800 due to its rich bass, but revealed to be a W. Hoffman T-122. A stunning example of how tone depth can mislead even seasoned players!
- Piano B: Identified as a German piano, I guessed it was a Bechstein A6, while it turned out to be a Schimmel C-130. The positioning of the piano challenged my expectations!
- Piano C: The clear choice here was the Kawai K800, and lucky me—I nailed this one!
- Piano D: My instincts pointed towards the Bechstein A6 again, but with some back and forth, I finally decided I was correct in my assessment of the brand.
- Piano E: I confidently identified the Seiler SE-132 based on the clarity and craftsmanship, scoring a point that matched my expectations.
✨ Final Thoughts:
With a final score of 3 out of 5, I reflect on how my experiences with grand pianos may not have translated perfectly to the upright world. But don't just take my word for it—how did you do with your guesses? Drop your thoughts in the comments below and let's discuss the intriguing qualities of these beautiful instruments!
