STORYLINE
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos visited the South Korean border village of Panmunjom in the heavily guarded Demilitarised Zone dividing the two Koreas on Wednesday.
The visit was a part of an official trip to South Korea to meet South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and discuss the two countries'' Free Trade Agreement.
Santos and his delegation were guided around Panmunjom - which is jointly administered by the American-led UN forces and North Korea - by United Nations Command officials based in South Korea.
They also visited the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission (UNMAC) Conference Building.
North Korean soldiers meanwhile were seen looking at the delegation through binoculars from their side of the border.
They also looked through the window of the UNMAC Conference Building whilst the Colombian delegation were inside.
Later in the day Santos attended a ceremony commemorating the participation of Colombian forces in the 1950-53 Korean War.
Colombia is the only country in Latin America that took part in the Korean War.
The two Koreas technically remain in a state of war because the Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.
Santos is scheduled to meet with the South Korean President Lee Myung-bak later to discuss further co-operation between two countries on security, economy and trade, energy resources and cultural matters.
