Hammock Camping Gear Test - Kelty Noah’s Tarp 16, Jacks R Better BMB Hammock and Bushbox XL Dinner

This is a detailed look at my Winter Hammock Camping setup in preparation for this winter…Kelty Noah’s Tarp 16, Jacks R Better Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock, Top and Bottom quilts and hammock accessories. Plus, I cooked a great dinner of sausage, onions and potatoes on the Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox XL Titanium with the Ozark Trails 9.5 inch Frying Pan with folding handle and nonstick surface.

Last winter loggers had taken my hammock camping trees from a spot that I had camped for years. Since then I’ve been mostly ground camping but on this trip I wanted to find another spot just in time for winter hammock camping. This new spot isn’t perfect as the trees are 5 feet too far apart but the location is amazing. This was filmed in the middle of October but unfortunately it didn’t snow until later the next day after I hiked out. Temperatures while camping got down to 30F with mild winds at night but the large Kelty Noah’s Tarp 16 held up great. I do not recommend this set up in high winds as this tarp is a giant wind sail!

This was the first time using my replacement Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox XL Titanium. In a camping video last summer I showed the hinge pins that hold the stoves panels together were sliding out when the stove was held upside down. The owner of Bushcraft Essentials reached out to me through my YouTube channel apologizing for the issue and offered to send me a free replacement stove as this was a very rare defect. I am happy to report the stove is perfect! At 22.7 oz (on my scale) with stove, 2 trivets and heavy duty carry case this is a very light and versatile wood stove. The total height of the stove is 19 cm with the firebox size being 14 cm tall by 12 cm wide. That makes it the perfect weight/size for backpack cooking or just sitting by the fire at night. It does come with 2 trivets which can be used to support a smaller cook pot, grill a steak, pick up the stove to move it, dump ashes/coals or to use alcohol stoves. It’s a very versatile stove that can use wood, wood pellets, the Trangia Gas burner, Trangia alcohols stoves and clones as well as solid fuel tablets like Esbit. I HIGHLY recommend this stove!
