Second degree AV heart block type 1, or 2nd degree AV blocks type 1, also called Mobitz 1 or Wenckebach, is a serious condition in the heart’s electrical conduction system, where nerve impulses created in the SA node, the sinoatrial node in the atrium can not effectively promote a contraction to the ventricles. Wenckebach or Mobitz 1 AV block is typically characterized by a progressively longer PR interval, getting longer and longer on each heart beat until a blocked P wave is present with a dropped QRS complex.
This video breaks down how 2nd degree AV heart blocks (mobitz 2), are different than 1st degree, and 2nd degree type 1 AV heart blocks, and 3rd degree AV blocks (complete heart block).

In this video you will also learn how to interpret heart rhythms on EKG Strips and how to tell the difference between rhythms.
