Atrial fibrillation (A Fib or AF) is a dysfunction of the atria in the heart causing irregular EKG / ECG arrhythmias where there is an absence of a P wave. This can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and also other thrombus like abnormalities in the body
Patients are commonly put on coumadin (warfarin) blood thinners to prevent clot events. You will also learn how to interpret heart rhythms on EKG Strips and how to tell the difference between rhythms.
