Pastor Gowen continues OSHi's myth or faith themed study based on LCMS seminary professor Dr. Donald Deffner's adult catechetical materials for Concordia Publishing House titled "Myth or Faith?" This study lays out the content of the Christian faith as participants use Scripture to evaluate various popular myths – e.g., that Christians become angels after they die.

In this week's Bible study on "Myth or Faith?" by Pastor Gowen we explore the relationship between faith and works, worship, and stewardship within the church. It addresses common misconceptions, such as the idea that we attend church for personal gain or that God needs our offerings. True faith is living and active, shaped by worship and expressed in acts of love. Worship is about God’s work in us, not what we “get out of it.” Likewise, giving is not about God's need but our response to His generosity. The early church modeled a communal faith, learning, worshiping, and supporting one another. Through Word and Sacrament, God forms His people, strengthening them to live out their faith in daily life.

This Study will conclude next week. During lent we will move to a new study titled: SiLent – yet God Speaks: Old Testament Heroes of the Faith
