China is punishing countries for ‘safeguarding national interests’

China is punishing Australia for merely “safeguarding our national interest” by passing the foreign interference legislation and, significantly, for banning Huawei from the 5G rollout, says The Australian’s Greg Sheridan.

Beijing’s ongoing ban of Australian Rock Lobster on the eve of the Chinese New Year is expected to have disastrous effects on the industry with some forecasting thousands of jobs could be lost if the ban doesn’t end.

Mr Sheridan told Sky News, China will just continue to hand out punishment “for as long as it likes”.
