This shepherd's pie is made with a creamy, cheesy mashed potato topping. To me, shepherd's pie is a delicious winter comfort food, which I always look forward to making

Ingredients:
500g mince (mutton/lamb is traditional!)
1 medium onion
2 medium carrots
2 stalks celery
1 TBSP minced garlic
2 bay leaves
300ml beef/lamb stock
1 TBSP worcestershire sauce
1 TBSP tomato paste
200g tinned tomatoes/ 3 medium fresh tomatoes
Salt and pepper to taste

Creamy mash:
1kg potato
300ml milk
50g butter
200g mature cheddar cheese
Salt and white pepper to taste

Tip:
Add more/less milk according to how creamy you want your mash to be!
I used less butter than usual, because cheddar cheese is a high fat, oily cheese
