Ride more before you die!︱Cross Training Adventure

http://crosstrainingenduro.com Your average adventure rider is not getting younger! I checked the average age of viewers for this channel and it's 54 years old. Welcome to Cross Training Adventure, we are into all things dual sport and adventure on the east coast of Australia. 50 is usually when we are increasingly aware of our mortality. Our bodies ache after a long ride. Keen on adventure riding in Australia? Check out our vids. We tend to break instead of bounce when we crash. The cupboard is stocked with ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatories. Two friends recently came close to having lethal heart failure. Others had cancer but are in remission so far. If health problems don't get you, possibly the motorbikes will. If you like dual sport riding in Australia then you might like our adventure riding vids. I was recently on a ride when a dual-sport rider went off the track and crashed into a gully at fairly low speed. The main thing is get out and ride while you can with dual sport riding or Adventure riding in Australia, Canada, Vietnam, Romania and beyond! So check out Cross Training Adventure. Dead on impact. We performed CPR for an hour before the paramedics arrived. This caused a lot of soul searching in our little group. We like to occasionally hit the throttle. Wheelies. Occasionally get the motorbike sideways around a corner. It's a great way to feel young again, even if it's only for a few minutes. But of course this means the risks go up as well. We are definitely slowing down a lot nowadays. And our moments of speed are happening less and less. I'm in my 60s now. Check out our reviews of various adventure bikes and dual sport bikes. Every time I do something that might involve a bit of risk my brain now automatically goes into a 'risk assessment' mode. So the Cross Training Adventure focus is just get out there and have fun on two wheels. Instead of obsessing over the latest blinged out Beemer, which tyres to fit or spending a fortune on your suspension or billet alloy gas cap. So most of our adventure riding vids will feature the much loved bush pig, the Suzuki DR650. And we've done a 10 part series on how to unleash the mighty beast that lurks within. What else? Cross Training Adventure actively avoids sponsorship. We like doing seriously critical reviews. Manufacturers make some really bad mistakes. and there is a lot of dodgy crap being sold out there. Instead of glowing dual sport reviews for kickbacks or free product, we will try to keep the buggers honest. So subscribe. Or don't subscribe to our Cross Training Adventure riding channel. Sometimes it's annoying. But bones tend to snap nowadays instead of bend. So it's probably a good idea to be more cautious. Some Buddhists meditate on their death every day. It sounds morbid, but I think this makes sense. It can remind us to not worry about the small things, and focus more on the important things. Family. Friends. Relationships. And of course motorbikes. A friend was recently struggling with his decision to just keep his old motorbike or buy a brand new one. He has spent years being very responsible, paying off his mortgage, and maintaining a budget lifestyle. I said "You will be dead in a few decades. Go for it". Now of course my answer would be completely different if he was already in debt and wasting money regularly on consumerist crap. Everyone will have their own balance between living for the moment, and long-term financial management. Me? I have spent years living frugally and keeping a simple lifestyle so I could work less and play more after I repaid my mortgage. Recently I have started to spend more cash. No more cheap helmets. I recently bought an Arai XD4 for adventure riding. I now have Klim riding gear for adventure and enduro riding. Gaerne SG12 boots. I still have my windscreen made from a $6 garbage bin. But when it's important, I will fork out the cash nowadays. Most importantly, I think it's time to ride more. How many of us will say on our deathbed "I should have spent more time at work and less riding motorbikes"? If you are in your forties or older, what are your thoughts? Live for the moment? Or plan for the future? I'm keen to hear what works for you. And it won't hold you back. Why? We reckon it's 80% the rider and 20% the bike.
