Even if you have the latest Exchange Cumulative update and Security updates installed for your Microsoft Exchange, you Exchange is still vulnerable to CVE-2021-1730, download domains.

If you run the Exchange health checker script you will find the Exchange Security Vulnerability for the download domains.

Microsoft wants everyone to configure the download domains to address the CVE-2021-1730.

CVE-2021-1730 is an Exchange spoofing Vulnerability that exists in Exchange Server 2016/19, this vulnerability could result in an attack that can allow a malicious actor to impersonate the user.
So, to prevent this CVE-2021-1730, Microsoft Recommends that all Exchange Users configure download domains for inline images to appear from different DNS domains instead of OWA.

This video demonstrates the step-by-step guide to configure download domains for your Exchange Server 2019.

First, we will configure the internal and external DNS.
Then we will set the OWA virtual directory host for download domains.
Also, we will configure the SSL certificate to include the download domain in subject alternative names.
Therefore, we will enable the Owa download domains and finally reset the IIS.
