Four Poster Super King Bed - Carved Headboard || Unique Design

The concept for this piece came from the client's interior designer - a black, four-poster bed centralised on a large window...the client wanted texture & interest, so I designed a tapered post, with chamfered edges. The key to the design was the power carved texture of the headboard & footboard.

The timber was Ash & the black paint was a milk paint with a hard wax oil top coat. The milk paint allows the grain to show through to add extra detail to this piece.

Without doubt the most challenging part of the build was the power carved lines/ridges, but they were made much easier with the Arbortech Ball Gouge.

I had a great time designing & making this bed for my clients, and it was a pleasure to deliver it to their home recently...look out for another video to complete this bedroom suite & check out the vanity desk in the previous video!
