Neptune’s Fountain in the City of Queretaro

Neptune's fountain in the City of Queretaro, is a work of the eighteenth century, made by Celayan Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, which has under an arch the figure of Neptune, Roman god of the Waters and the Seas, with two fish on some waves, built in 1797, was originally located in what was then the Huerta del Convent of Saint Anthony, later the market, now Jardín de la Corregidora on what are now 16 de Septiembre and Corregidora streets.

In 1908, the fountain and market were removed to build the Monument of the Centennial of Independence, known as the Monument to the Corregidora, inaugurated in 1910, the market moved to the current Plaza de la Constitución and the fountain where it is located today, on the corner of Madero and Allende.
