The Cross in the Saint Domingo’s Chapel from Queretaro

The Priest Esteban Arroyo tells in his book of History of the Convent from Santo Domingo de Querétaro, that the Cross was in the Cemetery of the Holy Spirit, some four or five blocks south of the Convent.

The Cemetery was suppressed in the 40s of the 20th century, the Cross that was in the center of the Camposanto, was transferred to the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, distant about three blocks to the North, just two blocks from the Convent.

In 1950 the Cross is moved again to where we see it today, on the corner of Guerrero and Pino Suárez.

The aforementioned Priest says that the Cross dates from 1739, the central part in which a kind of Veronica's Veil appears but without the Corresponding Divine Face is striking.

The next element that turns attention to are the five bleeding sores, in addition to the 30 coins, which suggests Franciscan iconography.
