Are Black Americans moving away from the "N" word?

Foundational Black Americans (FBA) is a lineage-based designation referring to Black people in the United States who can trace their ancestry directly to enslaved people in the U.S.. The term aims to distinguish this group from recent Black immigrants or those descended from slavery in other countries. The FBA movement also overlaps with the similar American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) movement. The term "n-word" refers to the highly offensive, racist slur nigger. The word has a long history rooted in the oppression of Black people and is widely understood to be hateful and dehumanizing. The word's origins trace back to the Latin word for black, niger. Over centuries, it evolved from a descriptor to a deeply derogatory slur, used to justify and perpetuate racism.
