The NEW DATE For The NBA Season!

As of today, we still don’t know when the new NBA season is going to start. But according to the latest information from reputable people, we may not have to wait that long.
So let’s dive into the details. What up everybody my name is Stefan and this is Heat Check. Let’s get into it.
The initial hopes from the league were that they won’t need to play another season in a bubble, and that there will be an opportunity for fans in the arena.
Maybe the Covid progression settles down, or there’s a vaccine introduced etc.
Naturally, they wanted to wait a little to see how the situation develops.
So dates like the end of January or even beginning of March were being mentioned.
This scenario of having another largely delayed season and messed up schedule was acceptable for the NBA if there could be fans in the arena, and if things could look somewhat normal.
And fact of the matter is that it’s not getting any better but in fact, we’re seeing a trend of a second wave of Covid cases- at least in the USA, and there’s no news about a vaccine coming soon. So it’s clear that we’ll have another atypical season.
And this is where money comes into play.
According to Bill Simmons, who is well connected to people around the league, they now understand that this year is also going to take a financial hit. So, instead of putting the players through a condensed schedule and putting additional toll on them both physically as well as mentally, the NBA is now focused on having a somewhat regular schedule and just take the hit this year, but at the same time focus on getting things back to normal for the next 21/22 season.
So, the newest date that’s being mentioned at the moment is Christmas Day. December 25th as a possible starting point.
That means less time to wait for us, the fans, but less time to organize things for people in charge as well.
And one of the potential problems that need solving is the situation with the Toronto Raptors.
At the moment travel between the USA and Canada is not allowed. At least not on a regular basis. So in order for the Raptors to participate in games this season they would need to relocate to the states.
There have been talks already for them to play in Louisville, however the players didn’t feel comfortable since the Brionna Taylor killing happened exactly there. So talks quickly fell apart.
At the moment this is 1 of the main issues that need to be handled alongside thousands of small details.
The NBA has to do a lot of work to organize everything but the fans may not wait for much longer for basketball to return.
