On the 9th of October, the people in Valencia gather to celebrate the Region of Valencia Day. On this day in 1238, King James freed the city of Valencia from the Moors. To commemorate this moment, a civic procession with dancers and orchestra as well as with people dressed up as Christians and Moors go through the city centre from the Metropolitan Church Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria to the Town Hall.
