It was in the year 2015, the Govt of Karnataka had taken up a major irrigation project in North Karnataka which was a blessings to crores of farmers in the drought region. The historical city of Bijapur also witnessed renovation and disilting of historic tanks and water channels in n around the city. Two major historical tanks ie Begum Talab and Bhutnal tank (Adhil Shah era tanks) were disilted and inter connected with huge pipe lines and were filled with water from Almatti Dam which is 60km away from the city. The pipe line was laid adjacent to SSBJ boundary wall. At that time the school had prepared a project for making a pond by taking a "T" from huge pipe line and to construct a small pond. Govt of Karnataka accepted our proposal and allotted required funds for the project. Today the pond is ready to be filled and water was released today to test the percolation. Very soon the pond will be inaugurated. The benefit of the water body are..
1. Can store 13 lakhs gallons of water (2acres of land with 20ft depth)
2. Improve the bio diversity in the area.
3. Improve the ground water level of the campus.
4. And many more....
Happy to have played a small role in making this dream project come true which will benefit the school and society in the surrounding area.
