Vulnerability Saves | Terrell Huntley | TEDxCharlotte
Description: Many, if not all, people are born with something that they are ashamed of and spend a lot of their time and energy trying to hide it. Whether that’s a handicap, birthmark, insecurity, apparent flaw, etc. This usually surfaces when we all lay our heads down at night. This idea of leveling the playing field of society by all becoming very vulnerable is necessary for the current culture.
What do you want people to learn from your talk? I want people to learn the importance of being vulnerable not just with their therapist and not just with a friend but with acquaintances as well. That person whom you just met in the store parking lot that needs your strength by way of your vulnerability. I want people to learn about the impact that it may have on society. I want people to learn that everyone has the power to stop a mass shooting or that everyone has the power to stop a suicide just by becoming vulnerable with someone.
What action items do you want people to take away from your talk? To take this journey with me and become vulnerable with more people. Find an acquaintance randomly and give the unpolished version of yourself. Terrell Huntley is a passionate Life Coach and also a Culture and Community Curator. Terrell recently launched Enjoy the Ride Coaching, a life coaching company that helps people embark on life change! Terrell loves to create content that inspires people and maximize their full potential to reach their desired results. His greatest accomplishments are writing his first book called “Our Goodest” and launching two initiatives for Charlotte, Hill City- a place for young adults to find community and Civil Gatherings – an initiative to bring together churches, nonprofits, and neighbors of West Side Charlotte. Terrell is still the current director of these initiatives today. Supported by his loving wife, Kemi a therapist her own private practice, Terrell intends on leaving a legacy for their three-year-old son Roman simply by pushing people past themselves. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
