Today we are here in the ancient city of Teotihuacan with wedding and commercial photographer Alejandro Ramirez from the city of Monterrey Mexico. She brought along with her model Andrea Diaz to do a modern fashion shoot in this classic location. Teotihuacan is a place that I always wanted to come. So, it's a dream come true to be here right now, taking pictures and combining my two passions: anthropology and photography. We are in this amazing location: the Sun Temple and we have the perfect sunlight. Because it was giving me such a beautiful flare in my lens, I was falling in love with the picture.

Today I'm using the Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2 lens. I'm using this lens because it's my all-time favorite for shooting portraits. It's really hard light, but I really loved the vibration and saturation in the colors. I was walking from one type of light and then we go to these stairs and it changed completely. I wanted to take another look, so, we got the model in the shadows and I use my reflector to reflect the light straight to her face. So just changing the location a bit and just using my reflector, gives Andrea a beautiful glow.

When I photograph, I have two approaches; I love the natural look, but I also love to pose. For my natural style, I usually make the model just walk around, give a spin, touch her body, grab her dress; anything that makes her feel free. So, my creative process is going with the flow. I love to interact with people, and in this great location with a lot of local vendors - part of the Mexican culture - and I just saw an opportunity and I have to take it. A lot of them said no, but finally we found one that said yes, and we got the opportunity to make them interact with the model. And I have these beautiful pictures of their connection and interaction, that it makes the photo perfect.

For this next photo, I wanted to take the picture in top of the Sun pyramid, looking over the moon pyramid. But the light is so hard, that I need to find a way to make it work in the picture. So, I just have to grab my reflector, and then put it in front of the model to give me that perfect balance. And I get the moon pyramid in the back, the model in the front, and the perfect light. For this next photograph, I wanted to create more contrast between nature, the pyramids, and the model. So Ali, tell me why did you pick this spot? I loved it since I saw it yesterday because of the cacti’s. you have the cacti’s here and then you have the pyramid on the back, so it's an amazing location. I imagine, with the model in the middle, and then with a with the connection of the rustic, and a little bit of fashion I think it's gonna be a great picture. The Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2 lens: it gives you a really nice perspective.

So, the next time you plan to photoshoot in a new location: make sure you try to get local help, have the necessary permits and use the light to enhance your location.
