India is an incredibly visual place, just a riot of color and textures everywhere you go and it's a culture that I'm never ever gonna fully understand ,today we are here in Rajasthan in the northwest of India who professional photographer William Vasquez as he captures local villagers in their day to day life I've been coming to India for the last 10 years on assignment as a professional photographer I was working a lot of corporate social responsibility for large corporations so I saw parts of India that they're kind of unusual and people rarely ever travel - nice to meet you how are you what's your name what's your name a lot of times I don't just go start photographing people I go in I say hello I smile chat I'd like to leave a positive reaction to my visit hey how are you you made it you have to have access and access is important which means you have to know local people that they can bring you in as a friend that's family oh let's go here yes I always have the entourage it's not just about getting a smile out of them it's actually sort of them giving you something authentic how do you do that I chuckle a lot I smile I passed on my positivity return it to me in the photograph everything move so quick it's very difficult to be switching lenses all the time I've been using the Tamron 24-70 2.8 g2 lens and that's like my go-to lens it's just perfectly being able to do portraits and then being 2.8 gives you access to more light very nice more shallow depth of field it's the only lens I brought thank you sure if you could you have a good couple yeah we love that yeah a little family portrait yeah they're married right thank you very much thank you thank you you know there's different schools of thought about photography for me it's always been about interacting with people since the beginning of my career as a photographer I've always been someone who interacts with the people I photograph hello I always look at something that you look at my photographs and you always feel like you were there with me take that book dad my style of photography is very sort of very quick you have a micro amount of time with people to get them whether the most honest and I don't want post I wanted to sort of feel like just sort of found photo but at the same time you know you've made it this perfect file further a lot of times things changes you just be photographing this one person right here all sudden just the fact that you're doing something changes that the environment there's something else going on right next to it and it could be the picture that you didn't even think about when you start it with a picture that ends up being the perfect shot color is a very important aspect of Indian life and culture and photo photography is just wow it makes everything more interesting a horror it's a rare and unique place it's a place that's very authentic and still very much the culture that's been for a very long time for me a successful photograph is have a good background simple great light and also have that emotional content projecting and through the photo into the person who's looking at I think when you travel to a place that you don't really know it's important to have people that have locals knowledge to have access oh yeah I love that when you want to capture life in a foreign country be sure you interact with your subjects be mindful of the background and don't forget to experience your surroundings without the camera
