Meet the Polar Bears of Hudson Bay | Op-Docs

The polar bears that pass by the remote town of Churchill, Manitoba, inhabit a forbidding landscape of driving snow and undulating sea ice. But as depicted in Ian Kerr’s beautiful new Op-Doc, “The Polar Bears of Hudson Bay,” they also form part of an uncanny interface between the natural and human worlds.

Kerr is a nature filmmaker who has spent years filming in the area, and he uses that experience to extraordinary result, painting a portrait of the bears that is both magical and unsettling.
