Creating The Costumes of WandaVision, With Costume Designer Mayes C. Rubeo

Academy Award-Nominated costume designer Mayes C. Rubeo joins FIDM Museum Associate Joanna Abijaoude for a Q&A about her work on WandaVision, a television miniseries set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and created for Disney+.

Learn how Mayes designed looks for the Marvel Comics characters Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)’s strange new reality that takes them through different decades of television tropes. Each episode reveals the magnificent costuming and more of the intriguing story behind the time-jumps.

Known for her impressive work on films including Jojo Rabbit (which earned her Academy Award and BAFTA Award nominations), Thor: Ragnarok, Apocalypto, and Avatar, Mayes will share advice and key takeaways from her career spanning decades. She’ll be answering audience questions submitted in advance to FIDM social media.

Mayes is currently in Australia working on the new Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder, with her collaborator, Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit).
