*This Extremely beautiful & Very Rare Ancient India silver coin is from Shakya Maha Janapada (c.500 BCE), making the coin aprox 2500 yrs old.*

*Shakya clan had Suddhodana as their King/Chief who was the father of the Prince Siddharth Gautam who later became Gautam Buddha or Buddha, the founder of the Buddhism religion.*

*Some scholars even believe that it’s possible that some of these coins were produced during the Gautam Buddha's lifetime.*

*This silver coin is heavy weight and is known as Double Karshapana*, (since the weight is twice that of Karshapana i.e. 7.10 gms compare to usual 3.4 grms aprox of Karshapana thus it’s known as double Karshapana)
or 5 Shana., *which is Very Rare.*

The coin is Uni face i.e. single side punched where is reverse is blank.
*On obverse* the coin has central symbol punched which looks like is having two crescent type symbols surrounded by multiple banker’s marks which includes tree, sun, dot/bindu & some other symbols.

*Multiple banker’s mark clearly shows the coin has travelled to numerous places for trading purposes and despite of which this coin is in such brilliant grade which is remarkable thus making it extremely rare.*

*The land of Shakyas where Buddha was born, was a Republican Kingdom which was absorbed in bigger and powerful Kosala Mahajanapada somewhere around c.500 BCE.*
