Classical Ancient Greece ~ An Archeological Adventure Tour

We join the tour in Athens with Theodore Voyages as our professional bus driver Theodore takes us on a circular tour of classical ancient Greece. We visit Athens and it’s famous Acropolis and ruins of the Parthenon, and a second day walking through the modern museum. We enjoy our overnight stays at five star hotels along the way, indulging in Greek cuisine wherever possible.

We continue our journey through the Peloponnese to coastal Nafplio, making a brief pit stop at the Corinth Canal. Another day and we are at the ancient ruins of Epidaurus & Mycenae. Pull out the movie Troy yet again for that historical note of ’…we were there.’

Off to Olympia where the Olympic Games were held every four years from the 8th to 4th century AD; and then to Delphi, considered by ancient Greeks to be the center of the known world. Museum visits at the sites is a must, as you will be in awe at the effort undertaken by Archeologists to preserve those ancient artifacts.

We make another quick pit stop at Thermopylae, the site of the Persian and Spartan battle in 480BC where King Leonidas I of Sparta uttered THE famous defiant response 'ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ' , come and get them!

To wrap up the tour we visit the town of Kalambaka in central Greece, site of the Meteora rock formations and famous Eastern Orthodox monasteries. Time to pull out another great film with Roger Moore as James Bond in the classic ‘For Your Eyes Only’, filmed partially in Meteora at the Holy Trinity monastery.
