Transforming Soil Health: The Journey at Glover Farm
David Cross and Lizzie Sagoo discuss the soil health at Glover Farm, exploring David's goals and objectives for his farming system. David explains how SAM 3 and GS4 options enable him to maintain food production while achieving positive outcomes for soil health. Lizzie highlights the crucial role of soil organic matter in enhancing soil health and boosting the farm's resilience.
Additionally, Lizzie discusses research conducted under the AHDB Livestock in Arable project, which transitioned a long-term arable farm into a beef and sheep operation. This involved converting a block of land from arable to herbal leys and establishing a baseline for the soil. Three years later, the study showed a significant increase in soil organic matter and earthworm populations.
