Jeffrey Sacks is one of the best US analysts of China and US relations. He shows that economic negotiations with China will lead to a much better outcome for the US than the current policies of the Biden administration. Yet US leadership has demonstrated it has every intention to pursue a hardline policy toward China which is guaranteed to produce an outcome where both China and the US are losers. This is a sad state of affairs. In the history of the Western world, many empires have risen and fallen and in the declining years of these empires, going back to ancient Rome, the leadership often becomes bizarre and self destructive.
