Daytime running lamps danger, DRLs

Daytime running lamps danger, risks with DRL dash illumination -DRLs shouldn't light dashboard instruments - here's why. In this video, I alert a driver about his tail lights being off. Cars in countries with compulsory daytime running lights (front headlamps) seem to increasingly come with always-on dashboard lighting which can make the driver think their rear lights are on at night or after lighting-up time. This style over substance approach by some manufacturers departs from what DRLs are about: road safety. I would like to see it compulsory for DRLs to not illuminate interior dashboard components - such can fool a driver into assuming tail or rear lights are on at night.

I have injected a little humour into this video, but I hope the serious point is made. It's highly likely in most cases with modern cars, a firmware revision to a car's systems can rectify this problem in 15 minutes at no expense to the driver.
