Trump's UNHINGED rant before the Canadian election.

If you’re new to my channel, my name is Steve Sandford. I started this channel because I couldn't find any independent journalists that cover issues that are important to Canadians. So rather than keep looking, I decided to get talking.

I enjoy answering questions and discussing topics important to you. Please comment to make your suggestions or email me at DominionReportCanada@gmail.com

Speaking Notes:
So what did Donald Trump say about Canada on the day before the Canadian election?
It’s time to talk ABOUT the future of Canada and its relationship with the United States.
I’m Steve Sandford, you’re watching Dominion Report.
The primary reason I started this channel of ours is to discuss what’s happening in the US and what that means for Canada. So far I mostly covered election topics, but now that that is over, the government is going to have to come to terms with what I believe is an existential threat.
If you watched some of my other videos, you’ll know that I have provided some good explainers on fascism. With recent activities south of the border, it’s become clear to me that they are trying very hard, and acting very swiftly, to implement a fascist state.
Let’s just review a small sample of the things we’ve seen that support this:
They’ve purposefully ignored numerous federally-issued court orders, flouting the rule of law.
They’ve kidnapped and deported LEGAL immigrants, sending them to a hell-hole prison complex in El Salvador known for human rights violations – all without constitutionally required due process.
They arrested a county circuit judge because they disagreed with her immigration-related ruling.
There are so many fascist indicators that we could talk about, but I’ll save that for another video.
Now let’s go back to just January of this year. The Conservative party had a 25 point polling lead – an almost unheard of spread. Poilievre had successfully capitalized on the unpopularity of Justin Trudeau. And Conservatives were preparing to be elected whenever the election was called – it had to be this year. Most people, including me, expected them to form a majority government.
Enter Donald Trump. After his inauguration, he instituted extreme tariffs against Canada. And he started making numerous comments about annexing Canada. All of this could only be described as a gift for the Liberal party’s reelection efforts.
Whether by strategic design, or by extreme good fortune, economist Mark Carney ran for leadership of the Liberal party. And he was elected their leader with a huge party majority.
Carney has specific and high-level experience dealing with financial crises at an international level. With regard to tariffs, he seems to many, like the right person at the right time.
Also, as a never-before politician, he was able to distance himself from the unpopular Justin Trudeau.
Pierre Poilievre, for his part, and the conservatives in general, appeared to be unable to pivot away from their anti-Trudeau messaging, trying to link Carney to Trudeau. I think they had some success with that, but on the whole I think they didn’t really pivot enough.
Perhaps more importantly, he was unable to call out Donald Trump on his threats with any kind of vigour.
Poilievre, if you remember, supported the Canadian Truck Convoy protests, meeting with them in the streets and bringing them coffee and donuts. I would speculate that he was hesitant to criticize Donald Trump for fear of alienating any Trump-supporting Canadian voters.
Side note here: I’d say that’s why Poilievre lost his own riding in Carleton/Ottawa, a riding he held for over two decades. Residents of that riding were directly affected by the Truck Convoy Protests, and probably weren’t happy with Poilievre’s support of them. But I digress.
Trump, on the day before the election, posted a diatribe on social media. In it, he inferred that Canadians should vote for *him*, that he would cut taxes, increase business, and provide military protection, all if Canada became, I quote, “the cherished 51st state.”
He also claimed that the border is artificial and he repeated his earlier lies about USA subsidizing Canada to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars. I did a video about that one already, I’ll put a link in the comments.
Now one thing that we’ve learned about Trump is that all kinds of crazy things come out of his m
