Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 Vs Southern Pacific 4449 Vs NYCRR Niagara 6001 - Trainz

Suggested by our viewer and loyal supporter 👍 Rukoalga 6446, Union Pacific Big Boy 4-8-8-4 challenges, or challenged by the SP 4449. We heard about the top operating speed of Big Boy is 80mph, but you probably seldom hear about how fast the SP 4449 was capable of.🤔

With the help of the forumer from the Classic Trains forum 🧐 ( http://cs.trains.com/ctr/f/3.aspx ), we know that 75mph was the top speed allowed for the Daylight's schedule, which implicated that the SP 4449 and other Daylight locomotives seldom operated at very high speed in normal circumstance.

The Southern Pacific often used articulated steam engines like the AC-9 (2-8-8-4) and AC-12 (4-8-8-2) for passenger trains, just us the Union Pacific commonly assigned their Challenger, especially the "Early Challenger" 4-6-6-4 locomotives for passenger trains. Tractive Effort of the Big Boy and Drawbar Horsepower of the NYC Niagara are much higher than SP 4449, does that mean the SP 4449 would lose the race without a doubt? 😱

Thank you for watching, sharing and subscribing! 😎 😍
